About TLVet

TLVet stands for that lady vet - a subtle nod to a phrase I’ve often heard to describe myself and other female large animal veterinarians over the years. Sometimes it was stated in awe, and other times it was with disappointment - why didn’t they send the male vet? Regardless, the phrase stands as proof that we are here and we are getting the job done - in spite of the bias we often encounter from clients and sometimes in the workplace.

I’m Dr. Amber Forrestal, and I’ve been practicing as a large animal veterinarian in western NY since 2020. My special interest is dairy medicine and calf care and rearing. I also have a passion for client education and “hobby farm” small ruminant and cattle care.

I will soon be leaving full time large animal practice and moving to the Southwest to devote time to family and the pursuit of my life goals - which are many!

I am an avid traveler and I love camping, hiking, and exploring. I have a Winnebago RV and way too many pets. I have cattle, four cats, a foster rabbit, a goldfish, a beta fish, a frog, and of course my best friend - my dog Boris.
